HISTORY
Tops Fitness & Rehabilitation was established in 2005, when Steve Johnson, Jimmy Gittins and Natasha Green, saw an opportunity to develop something special.
We renovated Tops Fitness, which is the oldest serving gym in Wakefield, previously owned by Steve Johnson's father. Tops has now been part of the local community for 30 years. It is unique in having separate men's and ladies training days. We wanted a gym that could be used by able and disabled clients, in a friendly, warm and relaxed atmosphere.
The ground floor was converted into a rehabilitation centre, run by Natasha Green a physiotherapist, who had been treating Jimmy Gittins following a rugby injury which left him with an incomplete spinal cord injury.
We have developed a centre of excellence, as there was a need to provide people with neurological conditions access to ongoing treatment following discharge from hospital. We feel there is a huge potential for people to improve or manage their conditions. We want to give them that choice.
We wanted an environment where clients, carers and support workers could relax and feel comfortable, sharing their experiences and knowledge with one another.
We have also brought alternative therapies to the centre to compliment our holistic philosophy, and provide symptomatic relief for both our physiotherapy and gym clients. We will continue to bring new developments and therapies which we feel will benefit our clients.
Tops provides the highest standard of care, the latest technology and information to our clients.
We are proud of the dedication of our staff and what we have achieved in the past 5 years.
We care about the future our clients want ...
