Reflexology is a complimentary therapy, which works on the feet to help heal the whole body. The art of reflexology dates back to ancient Egypt , India and China, it wasn't until 1913 that Dr William Fitzgerald introduced this therapy to the west as ‘zone therapy’. In the 1930s Eunice Ingham further developed this zone theory into what is now known as reflexology. She observed that congestion or tension in any part of the foot mirrored in the corresponding part of your body. It is a science that deals with the principle reflex areas in the feet and hand which correspond to all the glands, organs and parts of the body.

How can reflexology work for you?

Reflexology can be used to help restore and maintain the bodies natural equilibrium. This encourages the body to work naturally to restore its own healthy balance.

Reflexology has been shown to help

  • Back pain

  • Migraine

  • Stress and Fatigue

  • Insomnia

  • Hormonal imbalances

  • Arthritis

  • Sports Injuries

  • Digestive disorders

What happens during treatment?

On the first visit the therapist will have a talk with you to determine your present and past health and lifestyle. The reflexologist will then use their hands to apply pressure to the feet. A trained reflexologist will detect subtle changes in specific points on the feet that may affect the corresponding organ of the body.

A treatment session lasts 45min to hour. A course of treatment may be recommended to deal with your bodies needs.

How will you feel?

Most people get a feeling of well being and relaxation, sometimes people report feeling lethargic, nauseous or tearful but this is part of the healing process. This is important information to feedback to the reflexologist as it helps to tailor a treatment specific to your needs.
